Space Self Storage

I had a very poor experience with Space Self Storage. I called on March 17 to rent a unit and specifically asked to see it first. The employee pushed me to rent immediately over the phone with a promotional incentive, so I agreed. When I arrived to inspect the unit, I found it was not properly sealed. There was a secondary door at the back of the unit that opened directly to the outside. It was not sealed at all, with visible gaps large enough for rodents to enter. I could push it open several inches with very light pressure. There is no way this unit would protect stored items from pests or provide basic security. I never moved anything into the unit and canceled the same day after seeing the condition. After this experience, I looked at other reviews and saw reports of rodent issues where people said their belongings were damaged by feces and urine. Based on what I saw in my unit, that concern seems very real. Despite this, the company refused to issue a refund and was very firm about it. I had no choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I was also told I would be charged a fee if I lost the dispute, which is not accurate and added to the frustration. If you are considering renting here, do not rent sight unseen. Inspect the unit in person first. Update: After posting this review, I finally received a call from a U.S.-based representative. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, the conversation was clearly focused on getting me to remove the review. They still refused to refund the $58 and instead offered me a $1 refund, which felt more dismissive than helpful. They also claimed they had offered a replacement unit, but the only option presented was a unit half the size of what I rented. A 10x15 is not a substitute for a 10x30, and presenting that as a solution isn't really reasonable. But it sounds good in their review response. Their response also said they offered to evaluate and repair the original unit. This was never offered to me at any point. In summary, what should have been a simple and inexpensive fix turned into a drawn out and frustrating experience, and the follow up call only made that more clear. All for $58..... Let that sink in. My "satisfaction" wasn't worth a $58 refund. What will your satisfaction be worth?
